Judy Black, regional technical nanager and general manager for the Steritech Group, Inc., received both her M.S. in entomology and her B.S. in agriculture with an emphasis in Environmental Protection from West Virginia University. Through her education and varied career in the pest management industry, Black has become an expert in urban and structural entomology. A board certified entomologist and member of Pi Chi Omega, Black also has earned the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) Certified Food Safety Professional credential.
Black began her career with Terminix International where she served in sales, service and technical positions in the Pittsburgh, Pa. area. In 1994, after six years with Terminix, Black joined the Steritech Group, Inc. in Washington D.C. After holding a variety of service roles, Black was appointed regional technical manager for the Mid-Atlantic Region in 1995. In the spring of 2000, Black relocated to Denver, CO. and currently serves as Steritech's regional technical manager for the Pacific Region, as well as general manager for the Pacific Northwest.
In her capacity as regional technical manager, Black sits on the Steritech Technical Committee, and has been responsible for developing service protocols and training updates, providing field support, and assisting in product research and recommendations. She played an integral role on the team that developed Steritech's EcoSensitive Pest Prevention programs, the first structural pest management program recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for reducing the risks associated with pesticide usage. She is dedicated to developing procedures for eliminating pest issues through the use of integrated pest management techniques, while minimizing the industry's reliance on pesticides.
Recognized for her expertise in both pest prevention and food safety, Black has been invited to speak for the National Pest Management Association, the Entomological Society of America, the Southwest Food Safety Association and NEHA.
