Tom Diederich is a well-known figure in the pest control industry, representing the industry’s interests in the halls of Congress and keeping pest management professionals abreast of regulatory changes through his “Government Reporter” column, which appears in more than a dozen state pest control publications throughout the United States.
Diederich, who has a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York, Brockport, and a Master’s Degree from Michigan State University, began his pest control career with Orkin Pest Control more than 28 years ago when former NPMA President Bob Russell hired him as draining director. Since that time he has served in various management positions with the company, including director of national service and director of training and risk management. He is currently vice president of government relations and environmental stewardship, based at Orkin headquarters in Atlanta, Ga.
Diederich has been very active in association affairs throughout his career. He has served on the board of directors of the Professional Lawn Care Association. In addition to being named to the board of directors of the Better Business Bureau of Metropolitan Atlanta, Diederich has served as president of the Georgia Pest Control Association and as a member of the Georgia Structural Pest Control Commission. He is a registered federal lobbyist for Orkin and a member of Pi Chi Omega, a pest control industry honorary fraternity.
A frequent speaker at industry trade shows and educational events, Diederich has won numerous honors throughout his distinguished career, including the PCT/Syngenta Professional Products Leadership Award and the FMC Legislative Day Award for distinguished service in regulatory and government affairs. |
