Mr. Stoy Hedges
Editorial Director

Stoy Hedges has had a lifelong fascination with insects and attended Purdue University upon graduating from high school. While attending Purdue, Hedges was introduced to the structural pest control industry by working as a termite technician during summers for his hometown pest control company, Mooresville Pest Control. Upon graduating from Purdue in 1981 with a degree urban and industrial pest control, his initial experience was gained by working as a service technician, sales representative, and supervisor.

In 1983, Big State Pest Control of Houston hired Hedges as technical manager, where he honed his skills as an urban entomologist. After two years with the company, Hedges accepted a series of positions at nationally known firms. He spent more than three years as the technical manager for ChemLawn Corporation's PestFree Division, followed by two years as the director of technical services for Waste Management's pest control operation. ServiceMaster entered into partnership with Waste Management in the fall of 1990, merging the company's pest control operations with Terminix International. Hedges is currently employed as the manager of technical services for Terminix, the world's largest pest control company.

In that position, Hedges' primary duties involve writing and editing training programs, leading technician training sessions, and serving as the Terminix "answer man" on pest control issues for the entire Terminix network of company-owned and franchise branches.

Hedges is a board certified entomologist, a registered sanitarian, and a member of Pi Chi Omega, a professional pest management fraternity. He has authored more than 100 articles on practical pest management techniques and is a frequent speaker on numerous topics at pest control conferences around the country. Hedges is also the author of PCT magazine's popular Field Guide Series, as well as ANThology: The Best of Stoy Hedges.

 

Mr. Dan Moreland
Editor
Dan Moreland is a well-known and respected figure in the pest control industry. As the publisher of PCT Media Group, he serves the pest control industry through his contributions to PCT Magazine, the frequently honored publication. In addition, to his publisher’s role, Moreland is also serving as the editor for the 9th Edition of the Mallis Handbook of Pest Control. This will be his third time as the editor of this leading reference source. He was the editor of the 8th edition, seven years ago.

In his role as editor, Moreland, works with the editorial director, Stoy Hedges; 24 authors; and the GIE Media production team to ensure that the 9th edition of the Mallis Handbook maintains its relevance and exceptional quality in the pest control industry.

Moreland is a 1978 graduate of Kent State University with a Bachelor’s degree in journalism. He has worked for GIE Media, Inc. for the past 23 years. As publisher of the PCT Media Group, Moreland is responsible for overseeing the magazine’s sales and editorial functions, as well as providing the pest control industry with cutting-edge products, the latest news and product developments within the industry. He has also taken on an additional role as Executive Vice President of GIE Media, Inc.

Moreland is a member of the Press Club of Cleveland, Pi Chi Omega, the professional pest control fraternity. He also is the editor of the highly successful PCT Field Guide Series, The Ratcatcher's Child, Dr. Robert Corrigan’s, Rodent Control: A Practical Guide For Pest Management Professionals and is a frequent speaker at industry conferences. Dan and his wife Kathy make their home in Strongsville, Ohio with their two daughters.
