Alain Van Ryckeghem is a respected member of the pest management industry, earning a two-year degree in pest management from Sir Sandford Fleming College in Lindsay, Ontario, Canada. After graduation, he worked as a technician for PCO Services Canada, before rejoining the university four years later as a professor in the Pest Management Technician program.
While serving as a professor for 13 years, VanRyckeghem taught and developed courses in urban entomology, fumigation, structural entomology, alternative pest management techniques, landscape entomology, vertebrate pest control, urban wildlife management, pesticide licensing, pesticides and vegetation management.
VanRyckeghem eventually received his bachelor of science degree in biology and Environmental Resource Sciences from Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. He also was a principal contributing author and editor for provincial license training manuals on fumigation, structural pest control and termite control.
In 1999, Van Rcyckeghem joined Insects Limited, Inc., as technical director. In his role, he now specializes in stored food and fabric insect pests. In addition to providing training courses in pest management and identification of stored food pests, Van Ryckeghem performs laboratory and field research to develop pheromone lure and trapping systems.
Van Ryckeghem is a board certified entomologist (B.C.E.), a member of Entomological Society of America, International Society of Chemical Ecology, and Pi Chi Omega, a professional pest control fraternity.
